Meet Goodwill Akhigbe an outstanding Jeweller

Meet Goodwill Akhigbe. Tell me, have you always been beads designer?

No. I started off as a supermodel. Then from the runway to one beauty pageant or the other.

Before delving fully into beads designing/jewelry I had been engaged in various fashion related business.

I tried my hands on clothes designing from Piscean Institute of Fashion Design, that time na cut and sew o.

Then learnt hat making from Hillary Institute of Hat Making.

Almost been into buying and selling of ladies and men's wears and fashion accessories.

How lucrative were all these things before becoming a jeweller?
I really can't say how lucrative it was then, and is now because I work according to my passion to meet customer's needs, not necessarily for the profit. Profit is key to the survival of a business but not prime.

You were at the last fashion show in Abuja and your designs were breathtaking and admired to many, are you a constant feature at fashion shows?

I do feature in some fashion shows that offers me the opportunity to showcase. I also participate in some exhibitions.

Beads making is an art. Do you think it can contribute to the nation’s GDP?
Certainly. Beads making business has a lot to contribute to our GDP. Job creations to export opportunities abound in the bead designing/making industry.

We also we glass, wooden, clay, metal, pearl, Swarovski, shell, buggle, Charlottes beads just to mention a few.

What is the high point of your career?

A lot of people are jobless. Do you think there is room for them in beads making?
Yes of course! A lot of opportunities abound in the bead making business. Creativity, designing, production, sales etc.

If you were not a beads designers, what would you have been?
I would have been a lawyer.

Where do you find yourself in years to come?
I see myself running a first class jewellery company. A company that will meet the fashion needs of men and women globally at a reasonable value for money.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is great blog. A great read. I'll certainly be back. paypal login
