DID MYSTIQUE MARRY? EPISODE 1 OF SEASON 2

STORY SO FAR
MYSTIQUE HAS AGREED TO MARRY JEFF BUT EBUKA IS STILL IN THE SHADOWS. HOWEVER THEY ARE BUSY PREPARING FOR THE TWO WEDDINGS- TRADITIONAL WEDDING IN THE MYSTIQUE’S VILLAGE AND THE WHITE WEDDING IN GHANA. WILL THE WEDDINGS HOLD OR WILL THERE BE ANY PROBLEM THAT WILL STOP THE TWO OR ANY OF THEM FROM HOLDING?

Jeff cleared his voice as he moved closer to Mystique and held her by the waist, ‘you want to understand why I want to marry Mystique? I don’t really know how to explain what I feel about Mystique to you. I have told her. I have written a poem to her expressing my feelings.’

Jeff held up her chin, ‘I want to marry Mystique because I love her. I have dated so many women and none has given me the kind of joy that Mystique has given me. Mystique is my world. I think of her every day. She forms a big part of everything I do. In my heart of hearts I know she is the only woman that completes me.’

Phew! Angela exclaimed. This is just so good.

John kept smiling.

Now Mystique tell us, why do you love Jeff?

Mystique laughed, ‘it is like I am undergoing interrogation?’

‘Yes you are. If you don’t tell us, we won’t come for your weding,’ Angela said laughing.

‘Even me too,’ John said.

‘Okay, tell them Mystique why you want to marry me,’ Jeff said, looking into her eyes.

‘I am in love with you Jeff. you complete me. I feel it that you complete me too. You are such a gentleman and when I think of a future with you, I see a man, I can call my own. A man that will always be there and one I am willing to weather the storms with. I see a man willing to also weather the storms with me. I love you Jeff. I really do. i..’ Jeff did not allow her to finish as his lips came down on hers to the admiration of not just John and Angela but all the diners.

‘At this oint, I thing we have to toast to this happy couple shining the light in this present age, John said.

They lifted their cups and clinked glasses to the health of Jeff and Mystique.

The lunch passed so quickly. Mystique was snuggled to Jeff. She lifted her cup of chapman and jerked up when Angela said a little too loudly, look, that looks like Ebuka.

They turned their heads. They saw someone walking into the restaurant. It is not Ebuka. Mystique said.

‘But it looks like him doesn’t it?’ Angela asked.

‘Yes it does but Ebuka is slimmer and taller,’ Mystique answered trying to downplay the situation.
She went back to her position on Jeff’s chest. Her heart beating unusually.

‘You know Jeff. I was telling Mystique something before you came to my office. Ebuka is  obsessed with her. Obsessed as in obsessed,’ Angela emphasized.

‘That is Ebuka’s problem,’ Jeff said. ‘He was there sleeping when the most beautiful and sensible girlfriend he had was taken away from him. Whose fault? Mystique has made her choice and that is it?’

Mystique nodded her head still shocked.

‘I don’t think you guys should just ignore this Ebuka. The last time I spoke to him, he sounded so crazy. He said he has been sending text messages to Mystique and will never stop until Mystique becomes his. Or Mystique, have you not been getting messages from him?’ Angela asked Mystique.

Mystique was shocked at the directness of the question though she knew Angela meant well. ‘Yes, he has been sending text messages and I have even told Jeff about it but I don’t believe Ebuka is going to do anything to harm me or Jeff. You know like I do that Ebuka I know is a coward

Well I don’t think we should ignore him, John said. I think we should lodge a complaint at the police station and let him know.

‘I think this is taking it so far,’ Jeff said remembering the last encounter he had with Ebuka in Ghana. ‘I believe it is a case of someone not valuing what he has until it is too late. He must have realised his mistake after he saw me with Mystique. I think for now, we should leave Ebuka alone and concentrate on the weddings. Soon Mystique will relocate permanently to Ghana only visiting Nigeria from time to time.’

‘Well if you say so,’ Angela responded. ‘I however I think this needs investigating. We never can tell what a man is capable of doing.’

Mystique understood what Angela was worried about. Ebuka had hinted he was going to kidnap her. She didn’t of course believe it because he was such a coward but at the same time, she worried a bit.

‘Okay ladies and gentleman can we please leave this unpleasant discussion and move to some other things?’ John asked.

‘By the way Angela, how is banking in Nigeria?’ Jeff asked eager also to change the discussion.

‘O fine, just the targets are killing us,’ Angela said.

‘Well my partners and I are working on some multi-billion Naira businesses. Once we are through, I will convince them to make your bank one of our bankers, of course with you as our banking officer.

‘Wow, that is so well appreciated. I look forward to that time which I hope will be soon,’ Angela said.

‘Maybe you can start now by opening a personal account with us,’ Angela urged him.

‘Okay no problem. I will open my personal account and another one in the name of my in laws so I can remit money to them through it. The company accounts can come later,’ Jeff said.

‘O my God. Mystique, you are so blessed. How many people actually think of their parents in law in this manner?’  Angela asked.

‘Maybe other people don’t but I do,’ Jeff responded.

‘Thank you Jeff,’ Mystique said to him. ‘I am sure my parents will be very grateful to you.’

They left after John won the ‘battle to pay their bill. He had used Yoruba language to get the total amount and brought the money out even before the bill arrived.

They dropped off Angela at the office. She prevailed on them to wait until she brought the account opening forms for them.

John went back to his office while the driver dropped off Jeff and Mystique in the house. By this time, it was 4pm.

Jeff and Mystique did not see anybody in the sitting room. They entered their room grateful to be inside. Jeff helped Mystique to remove her shoes and rob her feet to relieve her of stress. He later went behind to massage her shoulders. Mystique was very relieved as the feet and shoulder massage, did her a world of good.

‘Where on earth did you learn to do that?’ Mystique asked.
